Historically, when communicating with each other through speech, people gradually created certain linguistic structures and rules. They greatly simplified the communication process and contributed to effective interaction.
But speech is not only the process of speaking itself, but also various speeches on a wide variety of topics in front of certain audiences. On this basis, they distinguish between festive, welcoming, final, business and others. They can be both independent units and elements of one large speech.
The welcoming speech, an example and definition of which will be given in this article, is precisely the subject of our conversation.
The importance of our words
The first impression is very important. It is known that it cannot be produced twice. Therefore, special requirements are placed on the welcoming speech.
Its function is to start any event with dignity, to greet those present, to defuse the situation, and to outline the prospects for further conversation. We are working on the audience.
And it doesn’t matter at all that sometimes the welcoming speech at the opening can consist of only a couple of sentences. The main thing here is not to make a mistake: a too long speech will make listeners bored, and a very short one, on the contrary, will create the impression of a frivolous approach to the event on the part of the organizers.
About the event itself
The central part of a welcoming speech, whether it is a speech from a school principal or a speech on a company anniversary, is a short story about the essence of what is happening. Thus, the speech of the host at a wedding is based on the introduction of the couple, the history of their acquaintance, the description of the celebration itself, etc. It is necessary to present to the audience the reason for the event, its purpose, significance, as well as the program in individual cases.
To describe what is happening at an event, you can use expressions such as:
- we have gathered here to...;
- The purpose of today's event is...;
- this event is dedicated to...;
- this conference/this opening/this holiday has a special meaning for everyone present;
- Today you will find performances by artists/scientists/teachers, etc.
Speech by the manager at the corporate party: “We have gathered here to celebrate the upcoming holidays together. We are all not just colleagues, but rather one big family. The festive atmosphere will unite us even more, which will allow us to continue to effectively work shoulder to shoulder for the benefit of our common cause.”
Solemn speech at the opening of the sports complex: “This wonderful event is dedicated to the opening of the most important facility in the lives of citizens, namely the sports complex. We have all been waiting for this for a long time and believed that in the near future a modern sports center will appear in our city. It is impossible to overestimate the importance of today's event for the life of the entire city. Let’s enjoy the performances of young athletes who will begin attending classes at our new sports complex tomorrow.”
Ability to convey information correctly
Any performance requires at least a little preparation. The audience or hall must be known and inspected in advance. This is necessary in order to understand whether the one who will speak will be visible and audible from all places.
Maintaining eye contact with the audience throughout the entire time certainly includes a high-quality welcoming speech, an example of which all lecturers should take note of.
Before a performance, you should practice the sound of your voice so that there is no interference later.
Taking on the position of manager
How to introduce yourself to the team? Psychophysiology If you intend to spend the first day with new subordinates without embarrassment, it is enough to understand the standard principles of preparing for speaking in public:
- Personal rituals. Many people have them - dress in a lucky suit, put on the most expensive watch or shoes, take a wad of money with you (yes, I remembered this from practice). The main thing is to increase self-confidence at a pattern level.
- Conductor. It will be easier if an assistant is assigned to you on the first day, who will tell and show you, take you to the right places and fill the void when you don’t know what to say. From experience I can say that it is better to abandon the conductor-boss in favor of a secretary or office manager.
- Breathe correctly. To prevent your heart from jumping out of your chest and your palms from sweating, try breathing according to the “4/7/8” pattern or the Buteyko method.
Director's welcome speech
Particularly noteworthy are the corporate speeches of the heads of various enterprises and firms in front of their teams. Directors, as a rule, are hired at all kinds of celebrations, summing up the results of the year, honoring veterans, and rewarding leaders.
Here is an example of one of these leader speeches:
“My dear colleagues! I'm glad to see you at the celebration
You are her main wealth and decoration! Dedicated employees, responsible suppliers and reliable partners. You helped the company move forward and stay on course. You were not afraid of the temporary difficulties that we managed to overcome together.
Thanks to all of you, today the company is the undisputed leader in its industry. We have achieved excellent results and are not going to stop there!
We deserve this holiday! I wish you a pleasant evening in good company of friends. I hope that you will enjoy the event, give you a great mood and leave pleasant memories. And invited artists will help create a festive atmosphere.
Thank you for your attention!"
As can be seen from the text, the same principles apply here as in other speeches. If the manager adheres to them, then this contributes to the work. If the atmosphere in the company is friendly, the directors are valued and respected, this directly affects the results of work, qualitative and quantitative indicators.
How to introduce yourself to a manager in a new team
Hello colleagues! I reviewed client requests from the past quarter and discovered that the topic of how to introduce yourself to a manager in a new team was raised more often than usual. I have a suspicion that such statistics are not accidental - crisis processes in the economy are always associated with personnel migration. It is especially popular to hire young managers without experience. Namely, they are faced with the described task. In this article, we will figure out how to properly get to know a team in order to initially gain authority among subordinates, how to behave when meeting, what you can and cannot do. I will try to present the topic as essentially as possible - and you will immediately be able to adopt some techniques. In a new team, the human psyche is designed in such a way that you always strive for a state of balance. Biologists call it homeostasis.
Conclusion
A successful welcome speech can demonstrate to all listeners that the speaker has a friendly attitude towards them. Then all subsequent performances, lectures, upcoming holidays or business events will go off with a bang. Therefore, you should not spare time and effort in preparing your welcoming speech. This will definitely pay off later.
Leader's speech for the New Year. Practical recommendations for those managers who are not afraid to speak in front of their teams. Or they are afraid. Column for the magazine "Commercial Director".
The easiest way for a manager to prepare a speech for a New Year’s corporate party is to entrust the preparation of the speech to your secretary (after all, she finished everything). Or the head of the PR department (he doesn’t come out with). Or to a third-party speechwriter.
The leader who does exactly this, at the same time as ordering the speech, must write a letter of resignation, or even better, a suicide note and then make hara-kiri. Because ordering your speeches from other people should be a shame.
New Year is one of the few opportunities to speak to all your subordinates at once in an informal setting. It’s stupid to miss such an opportunity, turning your speech into a formality, turning it into an awkward five-minute “monologue about nothing” before the buffet table. Do you remember at least one speech of at least one President of the Russian Federation for the New Year? Don't be like them, take your speech seriously.
1. Forget about what you specifically want to say. This is of no interest to anyone except you. Think about what your subordinates want to hear. Think about their problems, requests and expectations. Real problems and expectations. This is what you will talk about and only this. Your speech is the solution to your audience's problem. The speaker will be listened to only when he speaks for the sake of the audience, on topics that are interesting to it. New Year is not the topic of your speech, it is the occasion. Find a real burning topic and wrap it in a New Year's wrapper.
2. Don’t talk about everything at once, that’s what schizophrenics do. Your speech should have one main idea that runs through each part of your speech. This is the thought that will remain in the minds of your listeners after you finish speaking. To make it easier for your listeners, frame this idea in one sentence. One sentence that solves the audience's problem and which is developed and proven throughout the speech. Your speech should look like a chain of evidence that substantiates the correctness of your main idea.
3. Don't forget about the introduction. It should be short, calm (NB!), but eye-catching. Don’t even think about telling a joke in the introduction - the likelihood is too high that they will laugh not at the joke, but at the speaker who made a clumsy joke.
4. A good conclusion is essential for a good speech. In your conclusion, you summarize your speech, no matter how short, and encourage your audience to do something. Obviously we should raise our glasses for the New Year. But what exactly to raise your glasses to – that’s what you were talking about. God forbid you raise a glass to the prosperity of the company, the health of loved ones, happiness and other hackneyed platitudes.
5. Never read speeches, never, never at all; speak in your own words from a brief outline written on one sheet of paper and never on two or more. Don't shift from foot to foot, this will make you look like a penguin. Don’t be too shallow with your gestures, even if there aren’t too many of them, but they will be broad and complete, think them over in advance. If you want to be heard, speak not loudly, but s-l-e-n-o-r-a-z-d-e-l-l-n-o. Speak not in words, but in complete phrases.
These five points are not enough to create a good speech. But there are enough of them so that the speech does not turn out terrible. Good luck!
*** - for those who want more.
For many, the New Year traditionally becomes a time for summing up results, both personal and work. All of us, consciously or not, reflect on the question: what have we achieved over the past year?
The most advanced among us clarify: what of what was planned at the beginning of the year was achieved? In other words, if at the beginning of the year specific goals were set and plans were thought out to achieve them, then summing up the results becomes a matter of technique.
But why, in fact, summarize? This is usually done in order to evaluate the results obtained and draw conclusions for the future. The conclusions can be very diverse: from an understanding of “points of concentration” (both for consolidating and developing success, and for correcting failures) to a complete revision of the strategy and even life values. Only very young companies can afford not to be guided by past experience, set goals and make plans from scratch. If the company already has some kind of history, then not taking it into account would be not only short-sighted, but also unwise. This article will talk about how exactly to sum up the results at the end of the year and what to do with the results obtained.
Sincerity
And further. in your own words, for a corporate party, for the New Year or another holiday, first of all, it should be sincere. Wishes must be made from the heart. Only from such toasts do listeners become completely delighted.
You should not select ready-made wishes from various literature sources. Say what you think. Express your own thoughts. Rest assured, this toast will amaze your guests much more. After pronouncing yours correctly, don’t forget to smile and clink glasses with your colleagues. At the same time, look not into your drink, but into the eyes of your guests.
Why is this necessary?
At first glance, summing up the results for the company is not particularly difficult. However, in reality, various difficulties arise that can even lead to a complete abandonment of this practice.
Let's consider this situation using the example of a construction company belonging to the medium-sized business segment.
For a long time, the director of the company summed up the results in the format of a regular operational meeting, which was timed to coincide with the last meeting of the year. He collected statistical and financial data for the year and himself reported to the audience on the company's results for the year. At the same time, he assessed the work of each manager and set goals for the next year.
After some time, the manager began to notice that his management team was little interested in both the successes and failures of the company for the year, sometimes being frankly bored at such final meetings. Then he decided to abandon the practice of final meetings altogether.
Several years passed, and the manager began to notice that the mood in the management team was getting worse and worse. Moreover, there were no obvious complaints about anything from anyone, but the general emotional background became negative: conflicts often flared up over trifles, managers argued with each other over obvious things, the same issues were discussed many times, and Even if the decision was made by everyone, after some time the issue arose again and the discussions were repeated. The manager talked with several key managers and realized that they lacked understanding of the situation, assessment of their achievements, and clear guidelines for the future. They viewed the situation as uncertain and unstable, although in reality little or nothing had changed. The manager still summed up the results and set goals, but did not share the results obtained with the team, but simply formed a certain guideline for himself. For him everything was clear, predictable and clear. But it turned out that abandoning the practice of summing up played a cruel joke on him (and the company). However, the manager understood that it was impossible to simply return to past practices - the old problems would return.
As a result, the following solution was found: the functions of summing up and setting goals were delegated to the heads of departments (over the past years the company has grown and departments have turned into directions). Now the summing up began to take place in several stages. In November, the heads of the areas prepared a report on the work done and outlined the key tasks of the areas for the next year. Then, individually, they discussed their reports with the head of the company and finalized them taking into account his comments. A final meeting was scheduled in mid-December, at which the department heads made presentations and had the opportunity to ask questions to each other.
The new practice initially caused dissatisfaction, because... took quite a lot of time considering the need to prepare a presentation. However, within a year the new order began to be taken for granted and the general atmosphere improved noticeably.
Another mid-market company also went a long way in finding the best way to sum up the results of the year.
While the company was small and belonged to the type of family business, when all the employees knew each other outside of work and spent a lot of time together, the results were summed up almost daily and everyone was aware of the events taking place in the company. At the same time, every corporate event (New Year, company birthday, and even executive birthdays) was used to discuss successes and develop ways to solve problems. The company grew, and this practice became poorly implemented.
Then we tried to make two parts at a corporate New Year’s party: official and festive. For several years this gave good results.
However, this practice had to be abandoned when the company grew so large that company-wide parties became impossible. The format of an annual conference to sum up the results of the year was introduced, where representatives of all departments were delegated, not only managers, but also ordinary employees. The procedure for selecting representatives to the conference took several years to crystallize. As a result, delegates were employees who had special achievements in the past year, whose successes were included in the unit's report. Thus, if questions arose regarding the manager’s report, the authors of the ideas or achievements answered them. Also, a brochure “Results of the Year” was prepared for the conference with more detailed reports in all areas. The text of the brochure was also posted on the corporate website for public study.
Several conclusions can be drawn from these examples.
- The format for summing up the results of the year in the company should be clearly defined. The results will not sum up by themselves; you need to choose the most suitable procedure for a particular company.
The following types of procedures can be used:
- written reports from departments on the implementation of assigned tasks, publication of the “Results of the Year” brochure or posting of the final report on the company’s website;
- reporting meeting with presentation by heads of departments of reports on the work done;
- reporting conference with the invitation of ordinary employees;
- a speech or interview by the first person summing up the results of the year (on the pages of the corporate press, on the intranet or on corporate radio);
- meetings of company managers with labor collectives;
- brainstorming to sum up the results of the year and develop directions for further development.
- If the procedure used has ceased to bring results and causes dissatisfaction with the manager or employees, then it is better to reconsider it and choose another, more adequate one for the situation.
- There is no need to waste time on summing up the results. The time saved will result in the future need to spend time on smoothing out conflict situations, “calming” employees, and explaining guidelines and situations.
- Summing up can be a good team-building procedure: understanding common successes brings people together and inspires.
Engage your staff!
It is very important to involve staff in summing up the company’s performance for the year. Everyone contributes to the work of the company, and everyone should participate in summing up the results. Then the overall result will be considered as the sum of everyone’s efforts. Therefore, it is worth summing up not only the company, but also each employee. Ideally, the department’s report should be based on the reports of each employee, and here staff self-assessment is important. You can suggest the following reporting form:
The main innovation of such a report is the presence of self-assessment on the quality of work performed. To do this, you need to determine the scale and criteria for the quality factor. The scale can be anything, but it is better not to use a five-point scale due to the inevitable associations with school grades.
Variants of scales for assessing employee performance
From 1 to 10, where 10 is the maximum quality level, and 1 is the minimum.
From 1 to 7, where 4 is an average level of quality, less than 4 is below average, above 4 is above average.
From 1 to 3, where 2 is at the level of existing standards, 1 is below the expected level, 3 is above the expected level.
From 1 to 4, where 4 is excellent quality, 3 is good quality, 2 is fair quality, 1 is poor quality.
From 0.5 to 1.5, where 1 is at the level of the prescribed standards, less than 1 is worse than the prescribed standards, more than 1 is above the prescribed standards.
The quality factor will be determined by checking whether the work results meet or fail to meet certain quality criteria, such as:
- deadlines;
- the effectiveness of negotiations (the presence of certain recorded agreements);
- the need for improvements and alterations, etc.
If an employee has a plan according to which he works during the year, then you can enter coefficients of compliance and non-compliance of work results with the plan (the so-called percentage of execution
). It is very convenient to develop plans in Microsoft Project (a project management program in which you can develop plans, allocate resources among tasks, analyze the scope of work and track the execution of tasks).
Gratitude to those who came
Towards the end, the solemn speech at a particular event should move on to a declaration of gratitude to those who gathered and especially to those who contributed to what became the occasion for the celebration.
Words of gratitude should sound appropriate and natural, that is, without a hint of flattery.
You can express your respect using the following clichés:
- this event was made possible only thanks to...;
- if not for your help...;
- we walked this path together;
- this anniversary speech is dedicated to you, colleagues;
- I want to thank everyone who has been with me along this journey;
- thank you, friends;
- I want to express my gratitude/respect, etc.
An example is the speech of the director of the company, delivered at an event in honor of the organization’s anniversary: “The company is like a clockwork. If some seemingly small detail is missing, the watch stops. It’s the same in a company: every employee is important. That is why on this solemn day I want, first of all, to thank each of my colleagues for the work they have done. We came to this milestone together. It is only thanks to all of you that our company thrives. Thanks friends!".
Analysis indicators
To sum up the company as a whole, it is important to decide in advance on the analysis indicators. Quantitative indicators and their dynamics relative to quantitative indicators of previous periods are very important. Moreover, the number of such indicators should be relatively small (7 plus or minus 2), so that any employee can remember them and proudly tell that, for example, the number of visits to the company’s website over the year has doubled and amounted to an average of 1000 visits per year. day.
Typically, the main analysis indicators are divided into three types: financial, strategic and qualitative. Moreover, for the purpose of summing up public results, you should not go deep and unnecessarily detail the indicators used. It is important for staff and managers to first of all understand how successful the company was in the past year and what is worth paying attention to in the next year. Of course, heads of relevant departments must deeply understand the situation, but their reports are not public.
Therefore, from financial indicators
For the purposes of summing up the year, you can use the following:
- sales volume
(volume of sales revenue) for the year. If revenue is falling, it is important to understand the reasons for this, which may be due to, for example, the following factors:
Unsuccessful use of marketing tools (advertising, distribution channels, pricing policy, quality of service, etc.);
Technical problems (with equipment, technologies);
Human factor (team problems, personal problems of employees), etc.;
- profit
, i.e. annual revenue minus costs of production of products/services. Shows how much the company actually earns. A drop in profit can be due to the same reasons as a drop in revenue; let’s add only a few environmental factors that influence this indicator:
Increasing production costs by increasing prices for purchased materials;
Rent increases;
Increased loan interest rates;
Increased taxes, fines;
Fluctuations in exchange rates, increases in customs duties, changes in the political situation - for companies engaged in foreign economic activity, etc.;
- profitability
- the ratio of profit to sales volume. Shows the share of profit in total revenue.
There may be several possible problem situations:
Profitability is zero, but revenue is growing. This means that the company's expenses are too high and do not allow it to reach the required level of profit. It is worth significantly revising the formation of the cost of products/services, as well as optimizing all other expenses;
Profitability is zero, and revenue is falling. Demand for products/services has not been formed or the wrong pricing policy has been chosen;
Profitability is falling, but revenue is growing. It is necessary to radically optimize all the company’s expenses, perhaps some part of the work (or maybe all) should be outsourced;
Profitability is falling, revenue is unchanged. Obviously, there is a need to increase sales;
Profitability is falling, revenue is falling. The most difficult case for the company requires a complete review of its future activities, because Current activities bring only expenses to the company.
All financial indicators must be considered in dynamics, i.e. compared to the previous year or, better yet, over several years.
From strategic indicators
activities of the company that are related to the development of activities, the following are most often used:
- number of new clients per year;
- number of points of sale of products;
- nomenclature of the range of goods/services provided;
- the number of new developments/new standards or technologies, in general, the level of innovation in the company;
- level of staff turnover.
These indicators may vary depending on the industry, but what they have in common is that they can be expressed in numerical form and their implementation affects the achievement of goals in future periods, i.e. they are forward-looking and strategic in nature.
In conclusion, let’s look at the quality indicators:
- the company's popularity in the market;
- level of quality of customer service, customer reviews;
- level of staff satisfaction;
- level of quality of products/services.
These indicators are most often obtained from the results of surveys and other studies, as well as by taking into account customer feedback, the number and content of complaints and customer complaints.
The results have been summed up. What's next?
Summing up allows you to get an objective picture of what is happening in the company: what was actually done, what results were achieved. In addition, you can see problem areas where goals have not been achieved and where events are not unfolding according to the planned scenario. Analysis of such problem areas can reveal, for example, that resources, incl. temporary ones were allocated incorrectly, that insufficient time was devoted to those areas where there are problems, or insufficient other resources were allocated.
After pouring the foundation at one of the objects, the construction of which was carried out by a construction company, it was discovered that the concrete had not gained strength, and over time the foundation collapsed. As a result, construction was suspended due to legal disputes with the concrete manufacturer, and the company suffered losses. After this incident, foremen began to take a mandatory sample of each batch of concrete: although this increases the overall preparatory stage of construction, it helps to avoid many problems in the future.
Identification of bottlenecks when summing up results can also reveal a situation where opportunities were clearly overestimated.
The same construction company decided to engage in the production of plastic windows in addition to construction and repair and finishing work. Production was established, but competition in this segment was too high, and the company was unable to achieve cost recovery even after two years.
As a result, the company's management decided to curtail this line of business and engage in those activities in which it had long accumulated experience and established a client base.
Having summed up the results of the year, we can, taking into account the received picture, make changes to future plans, which makes them more realistic and achievable. On the other hand, if a company sets goals for the year, then summing up the results becomes much easier. Therefore, the most correct decision would be to combine the work of summing up the year with the work of setting goals for the next year.
E. Skriptunova, I. Arzhint,
Most of us, going to a holiday celebration, only think about how to successfully choose a wardrobe, what we will be treated to and how to “dance the accountant Lyubov Semyonovna.” And they completely forget about the morale, atmosphere and purpose of the celebration.
Of course, the main component that sets the tone for the entire holiday can be considered the solemn speech of the leader. It is this that allows you to focus on the most important thing - the meaning of the holiday, expectations and the atmosphere of friendly communication between all guests. Without a properly composed speech from the leader, the celebration turns into a simple “drinking party” with a lot of snacks. Therefore, the most important thing for him is to draw up a plan for the speech in such a way that at the moment of delivering the festive speech, all guests feel an atmosphere of unity and cohesion.
Wishes
At the end of your speech, you need to express your hopes for the future and wishes for the audience regarding the event. Thus, an anniversary speech usually ends with congratulations to the hero of the day or a wish for a good time during the holiday.
A clear example of ending a speech with a wish is the invariable expression of the presenter Dmitry Nagiyev: “Good luck, love and patience to you. Well, that’s it, bye, bye.”
Any speech, no matter what its nature, should end on a bright note. The following expressions will help create this impression:
- I believe that continued prosperity awaits us;
- I hope that only victories await us ahead;
- I want to wish everyone present a good evening;
- I wish you to enjoy the concert/evening/performances, etc.
As an example of the end of a speech, a solemn speech at the official closing of the festival is used: “In the end, I want to wish you never to stray from your path in life. I believe that one day our roads will converge again, and we will spend unforgettable days together, like at this music festival. Love yourself and be true to yourself. Goodbye, dear friends!”
A speech for any event has the same framework that a beginning speaker can use to prepare a good acceptance speech for any occasion. The main thing is to be sincere and remain yourself.

Try to mention everything important that you didn’t have time to mention in the daily bustle. For example, recall events that have had an impact on the company this year and express your personal attitude towards them.
Your speech should inspire hope that all the troubles and problems will remain in the past year, and the coming year will bring more good than bad. You should not focus on the negative in your speech, because a holiday is not the most suitable occasion for this.
You can accompany your words with a photo collage or a short film telling the history of your enterprise. And, of course, the director’s speech prepared for the corporate party on the occasion of the upcoming 2019 New Year should include congratulations on the holiday.
*** Dear Colleagues! I am glad to see you at this holiday. You are the main wealth and decoration of our enterprise! You helped the company move forward and stay on course. Speech by the director at a corporate party for the New Year 2022
The manager’s speech during the New Year’s corporate party should not be too long, otherwise the listeners will get bored, nor too short. The optimal duration of such a speech is no more than 7-10 minutes.
Think carefully about the most important, most important words that you want to say to your colleagues and business partners. Remember that sincerity, conciseness and brightness are the components of a successful director’s speech at the corporate celebration of the New Year 2019.
*** Dear Colleagues! I am glad that many of our employees have become true friends. This indicates the development of corporate spirit in our company. I hope that we will continue to find mutual understanding on work issues. Let us remember that we serve the same cause and are aimed at a common result. I know that this is possible for those who strive not to stop there and set high goals. Let everything that is planned come true! Good luck, optimism and prosperity!
The manager’s speech prepared for the New Year’s corporate party should sound impeccable. Of course, such a speech requires some preparation. To avoid any problems, you should at least practice a little before doing this, check the microphone, the acoustics of the hall, and the sound of your voice.
Take the time and effort to prepare the director’s welcoming speech so that it evokes only positive emotions among all employees gathered at the festive corporate party dedicated to the 2022 New Year.
*** Dear colleagues, I am happy to congratulate you all on the upcoming New Year holidays! I believe that our close-knit team will show excellent results in the coming year and achieve new heights. What makes a leader a leader? The ability to ensure results through the “hands” of your subordinates. And this requires knowledge and skills in a variety of areas. At the same time, there is a skill that is very difficult for a manager to do without. This is the ability to convey a thought in such a way as to be heard, so that the task at hand is understood and completed correctly, and in order to motivate people to achieve results with just a few words. Let's talk about how to properly structure a speech in front of employees at planning meetings and large corporate meetings.
What makes a leader a leader? The ability to ensure results through the “hands” of your subordinates. And this requires knowledge and skills in a variety of areas. At the same time, there is a skill that is very difficult for a manager to do without. This is the ability to convey a thought in such a way as to be heard, so that the task at hand is understood and completed correctly, and in just a few words. Let's talk about how to properly structure a speech in front of employees at planning meetings and large corporate meetings.
Any event at which a leader will speak has its own special rules, restrictions and, most importantly, goals. This will determine what a leader can and should talk about and how.
Planning meeting
– a short production meeting on current issues to ensure the implementation of the planned plan. It is recommended to carry out daily in the evening. The optimal time for holding planning meetings is 30–40 minutes. At the planning meeting, employees report on the progress of tasks, discuss pressing problems and propose ways to solve them, assign tasks and determine those responsible for their implementation.
Corporate meeting
– a general meeting of employees of a department or company with a goal in work, to familiarize them with the main strategic objectives, talk about the results, encourage employees and inspire them to achieve common goals in their work. It is recommended to do it weekly in the morning. The optimal time for holding meetings is 30–40 minutes.
A planning meeting and a corporate meeting are different events. In the former, it is customary to talk more about problems and tasks, in the latter – about results and goals. But regardless of the specifics of the event, the main purpose of the leader’s speech is to guide, motivate and inspire. The manager may have additional goals.
A lot depends on what goals are set. Think about what you will say if your task is simply to inform? What will you say if you need people to make an action plan? How will you structure your speech if you need to literally inspire people to perform a feat? Agree, each time it will be a completely different performance.
Formulate it in terms of the results you want to achieve. Define the criteria for obtaining these results. For example, if your goal is to “get the message across” or “set a goal,” then the outcome measure might be the fact that employees wrote down what you said.
Consider this point: your speech should not be accusatory, you should not scold anyone, you should not focus on failures. You can talk about problems, but immediately offer ways to solve them. Focus more on successes and results. That is, the leader’s speech should be predominantly in a positive manner.
Another tip - don’t limit yourself to general phrases, speak to the point. Who did what, how much, where, when and what. They will be waiting for your speeches to hear your name and about your, albeit small, but such important achievements and successes.
The timing of the performance depends on the goals and characteristics of the event. At a planning meeting, the leader can start the event by getting everyone involved in the work, and end it by summing it up. Therefore, each presentation should not exceed five minutes. At a corporate meeting, you should also not speak for more than fifteen minutes. After giving other leaders a chance to speak, summarize, communicate what you expect, and get people on track.
There is nothing special in the structure of the speech, and success is guaranteed if you use the proposed simple plan. Sometimes they say that it’s all too simple, but... yes, everything ingenious is simple.
- Introduction. This is a way of “entering” a performance. It is important to state the topic you are going to talk about. For example: “Today we will discuss (let’s talk, I’ll tell, etc.)…”. And explain why this was needed, starting, as an option, with the following words: “We all know that...”.
- Thesis or opinion. The key part of the speech: having voiced your opinion, you will then refute or prove it. This is a simple form of expressing your thoughts, which is very easily perceived by people. Just remember that it is better to express your opinion, this will add significance to your words: “I believe/came to the conclusion/think that...”.
- Main part. At this stage, you prove or disprove the opinion expressed. In this case, it is convenient to go point by point: “Firstly... secondly... thirdly...”.
- Action. Any speech, story, presentation makes sense only when you get a specific action from your listeners. Even when telling a joke, you expect everyone to laugh. And this part of the speech gives you the opportunity to voice the final, most striking thought that will make listeners applaud, think, buy, agree - in a word, act. “Therefore, we (you, our company, etc.) should do (make, acquire, etc.) ....”
- End your speech with a call to action: “So let’s protect (overcome, think about the future, etc.)…”.
If planning meetings and corporate meetings are organized correctly, this will help discipline the team, provide an opportunity to see real work results and tie long-term goals to daily tasks. At first glance, formal events can become the basis for motivating employees when everyone sees common goals, their own tasks and opportunities.
Thus, the effectiveness of a leader largely depends on his ability to speak. It is important to remember that a speech, regardless of duration, must be thought out to the smallest detail. And if at first you need preparation, then over time the ability to effectively convey your ideas will become automatic. And your level of influence not only on people, but also on the situation as a whole will increase many times over. The main thing is to see the goal and go according to plan. Then you will be able to “sell the idea” and convey your idea in the shortest possible time and with maximum results.

Most of us, going to a festive celebration, think only about how to successfully choose a wardrobe, what they will treat and how to “dance the accountant Lyubov” Semyonovna." And they completely forget about the morale, atmosphere and purpose of the celebration.
How to properly plan a speech for a corporate event?
With the word “toast”, many people have a picture in their head of a large, friendly table, at which their closest and dearest guests are sitting. And at the head of this whole feast is the main one, the one who can beautifully and brightly deliver an incredible, memorable speech. Most guests, given the possibility of being assigned to deliver a celebratory speech, go deeper into the “crowd” without showing enthusiasm or desire to speak. This could be due to many reasons:
I'm not a speaker at heart; I don't know how to speak beautifully; I do not know what to talk about; I feel awkward under hundreds of listening eyes; I'm afraid of making a mistake; I'm very worried and I can't breathe.
However, you, like, are unlikely to avoid this fate. Giving a speech at a corporate event is not that difficult. You just need to draw up a clear plan for the presentation that will characterize each individual employee and the entire team as a whole. In your solemn speech, everyone present should see for themselves a piece of what is important and desirable. The leader’s ceremonial speech should be short, expressive, with a clearly defined goal, and with specifics specifically for the occasion of the celebration.
Since the New Year celebration is almost upon us, and a corporate party will not be long in coming, today we will look at the right examples and ways for a leader to write an effective and memorable speech for a New Year’s corporate party.
We select a method and prepare a speech for a New Year’s corporate party
Method #1: Improvisation
The method of composing a speech based on improvisation is ideal if your company and table friends are well-known people with whom you have been in close contact for a long time. Because most of your wishes will not be clear to outsiders. When making a speech at a corporate event for your colleagues, you will mention only those working points that will be understandable to “initiates”, otherwise you risk a) speaking abstractly and putting your listeners to sleep; b) sow awkwardness among the team.
However, improvisation without preparation is impossible. To make your speech at a corporate event as effective as possible and impress with its ease, it is better to draw up a basic plan in advance. And during the congratulations, build on what was written, adding improvised moments that suit the occasion.
For example, a speech is being prepared for a corporate event for workers at a garment factory. The speech should be based on words in professional jargon.
Examples of such a solemn speech:
We create fashion, dictate the rules of style, and in every masterpiece we put not only the warmth of our hands, but also a piece of warmth. That is why our products are so popular (here you can add points during the speech that may be of interest to each individual employee who is distinguished by certain qualities: Maria Ivanovna sews quickly, Angelika Semyonovna takes initiative, etc.);
Since people are greeted by their clothes, we do everything possible to make this meeting as beautiful and bright as possible.
These are the main “tags” - the thoughts of the entire speech. Each team has its own stories and characteristics that can be highlighted in speech.
Method #2: poem
Speech at a corporate party in verse is almost a win-win option. You can prepare a poem yourself (if you have talent), or you can look at the most profitable options on the Internet. Only without platitudes and not according to a piece of paper with hesitations. You can always add individual characteristics to your speech. Don’t forget about subordination when preparing a speech for the team (after all, your bosses and work colleagues will remember your speech for a long time). For management, these can be poems with wishes for stability and development, with light, unobtrusive humor. For work colleagues - words calling for self-development and increasing material wealth. Show your imagination, use specifics to adapt the poem to your company.
Method No. 3: prepared plot
This method of speech for a corporate event is to tell a simple storyline with several or one character. This, by the way, is the basis for Georgian toasts, which have the main part - plot, history and an unusual outcome (often with humor). If you are giving a speech at the table, then at the end you can just make a short but precise toast, which will be the “highlight” of the whole story:
So let's drink so that our life can be as bright and beautiful as the life of a bird before its fall; Let's drink to individuality, which will never become a separate part of the collective; Let's drink to ensure that our capabilities and desires always coincide.
The basis of this method is the ability to maintain intrigue until the very end of the story. Oratory and during pronunciation is half the success.
Method #4: Anecdotal story
A ceremonial speech as a short anecdote followed by a toast is an excellent choice when the main ceremonial speech has already been delivered, but you need to continue communicating with the team. This is a good option only if you have chosen a “non-bearded” joke, and you yourself know how to tell jokes. Ideally, if the joke is “highly specialized” and relates to the field of activity of your company. Don’t forget that listening to a regular, funny, but already boring joke at every New Year’s corporate party is not interesting.
There are many examples of solemn speeches. But there is a basic rule for making a speech at a corporate event: avoid banalities and formalities. Say specific things about your company, personally recognize employees, list facts and figures that are worth being proud of, and mention the company's planned direction for development. Even if you choose one example from those available on the Internet and adapt it “to suit yourself,” you will not only be able to give a beautiful and bright speech at a New Year’s corporate party, but also earn the fame of a true leader.
Don't rush to fire and hire
Poor communications with “neighbors” can create big problems in your work, as well as give rise to doubts about your competence. Business coach Lyudmila Gorodnicheva, a partner at Right Solution, often encounters the fact that immature managers do not know how to build boundaries with related departments and, trying to please management, take on impossible tasks.
You will see an average type of leader. Try it on yourself: what qualities and abilities you already have, and what needs to be supplemented. You can also turn to your idea of an ideal leader: how do you imagine him? How would you like to be treated? Add these considerations as well. All that remains is to bring the resulting image to life.
This fact is noteworthy. The word “charm” today means charm, captivating influence, attractive force. The original meaning of the word "charm" was different. “Charm” meant being able to speak beautifully, captivating with words. The word “charm” itself comes from the root “bai” - bayat, bayan, talk, tale.
By corporate culture we mean those practices that operate in an organization and that are formed on the basis of corporate values.
