Primary speech therapy examination
Let us describe how the initial examination of the OHP is carried out. First, the speech therapist gets acquainted with the notes of the child neurologist and pediatrician. Clarifies the features of the course of early speech development.
Then he diagnoses oral speech and determines the degree of formation of the language system. Studies the state of coherent speech: composing a story from a picture, retelling.
Examines the correctness of word formation, coordination of parts of speech and sentence construction. Determines the vocabulary and ability of children to correctly name objects or phenomena.
Studies the sound side of speech: the structure and motor skills of the speech apparatus, sound pronunciation, syllable structure and sound content of words. Determines abilities for phonemic perception, sound analysis and synthesis. Conducts diagnostics of auditory-verbal memory and other mental processes.
The conclusion helps to determine suitable correction techniques
The result of the examination is a speech therapy report. It reflects the level of speech development and the clinical form of speech disorder.
For example: level 2 OHP in a child with a motor form of alalia.
The diagnosis after “ONR” must necessarily indicate what clinical diagnosis is causing the speech underdevelopment. The conclusion helps determine appropriate corrective techniques.
Isolated sound
The following series of games will help you pronounce isolated sounds:
- Games like “Overcome”: help an athlete reach the top, overcome obstacles, and so on. They help the child understand how the articulatory apparatus should work, how the sound is pronounced correctly and coordinated with the movement of the hand, and phonemic hearing develops. When carrying it out, children either carry the toy along the place suggested by the teacher, while pronouncing the sound, or they themselves walk along the rope path.
- In the “Connection” group you can play games like feed the animals. They help coordinate hand movements with pronouncing sounds, activate and clarify vocabulary, and use nouns correctly. During classes, children make a line with a finger, pen or pencil and say the sound suggested by the teacher.
- The “Flower” type game is played in the form of “collect.” Helps to pronounce sounds correctly and at the same time use prosodic components, and also develops auditory attention. After each correct pronunciation, the child inserts a petal into the middle.
Words
The task is to pronounce them correctly. Speech therapy games for correcting sound pronunciation and exercises are carried out as follows:
- In “Competitions,” they learn to correctly pronounce sounds in words, match words to diagrams, thereby developing phonemic awareness, practice reading words, and work with vocabulary. The work is carried out either with a toy or directly with children, as in previous groups. They only repeat the words suggested in the diagrams or pictures.
- “Connection” helps with reading, vocabulary activation and the use of words in different cases. It is also carried out using lines, repeating the words that are in the drawings.
- “Flower” helps to correctly use sound in words, teaches you to match words to syllables and sound patterns, helps you learn to read and develops your vocabulary.
Collocations and sentences
During such classes, children learn to match objects to actions, and vice versa, coordinate words, introduce sentences into speech and work with cases. In all groups, the implementation options remain the same, the didactic task is as follows:
- Kids are engaged in pronouncing phrases and sentences that contain the desired sound. Clarify and expand vocabulary.
- The tasks are the same as in the “Competitions”, but agreement of nouns and adjectives is added.
- “Flower” helps you learn to pronounce sentences with a given sound, compose them following an example, independently tell stories based on a picture, and build a large vocabulary.
If the game is systematic and correctly combined, the child will quickly show the results of the lessons. But everything should be as playful as possible.
